Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, forecasting heavy to very heavy rains in isolated areas. This alert also extends to Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra’s Konkan region. The city has already started experiencing the effects, with significant waterlogging reported in areas such as the APMC Market, Turbhe Mafco, and King’s Circle.
IndiGo Travel Advisory: IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory, warning passengers of potential flight delays due to the heavy rains and resulting air traffic congestion in Mumbai. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), IndiGo stated, “Flights are impacted due to heavy rains and air traffic congestion in #Mumbai.”
Weather Forecast: The weather tracker ‘Mumbai Rains’ on X predicts consistent moderate to heavy rains over the next 24-36 hours, which may lead to more waterlogging. Western suburbs, including Dadar, Worli, and Bandra, are expected to receive the most precipitation today. The interior regions of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) are also likely to experience heavy showers.
