Date: July 16, 2024
The 150-kilometer Mumbai Nashik Expressway, which has been operational since 2009, connects the ‘Wine City’ to India’s financial capital.
Now, the government is developing this four-lane highway into eight lanes. Work started in 2023, and the highway extension is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
The Mumbai Nashik expressway is a part of the NH 160 route. Once operational, the journey from Mumbai to Nashik via this Highway will take approximately 3.5 hours.
The planned upgrades are expected to boost real sector and employment opportunities as well.
It will also improve Maharashtra’s connectivity and transportation efficiency once the motorway is started. Additionally, the project road is a growing warehousing hub with new warehouses being set up and commissioned near Padgha & Shahpur.
The project road traverses through terrain alignments except for Kasara Ghat location where it is aligned through hilly terrain.
It passes through some major towns such as Igatpuri, Kharegaon, Kalyan, Ahmednagar and Palghar. The route connects Vadpe in Thane District to Gonde in Nashik District.
