Pune experienced a downpour of heavy rainfall, leading to flooded roads across the city.

Even with the heavy rain on July 25, 2024, in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune Metro’s passenger services worked well without any issues. A total of 90,198 passengers used the Metro service that day. On Thursday, the metro system in the city became crucial as there were limited PMPML buses available, and taxis and auto-rickshaws were charging exorbitant prices for rides. Ashish Karmarkar, an IT professional, found joy in his metro journey along the Vanaz-Ramwadi route, occasionally glancing out to see the swollen Mutha-Mula river. A Maha Metro official mentioned that the metro services on both routes, from Vanaz to Ramwadi and from PCMC to Civil Court, operated smoothly on Thursday, despite the challenging conditions for passengers.

Over 1,040 passengers took advantage of the Metro Integrated Feeder Bus Services from Ramwadi Metro Station to WTC and EON IT Park in just one day.

The number of passengers using the metro was lower than usual. By 4 pm, approximately 48,000 individuals had taken trips on the two routes. Amit Kulkarni, employed at a private company in Shivajinagar, shared, “At first, I was worried the metro might stop running because of the heavy rain. But when I got to Ramwadi station, I found out that the services were still operational.”
