Power Outages Persist In Pune Despite Receding Water LevelsĀ
Pune residents are grappling with continued power outages in the Ekta Nagar area of Sinhagad Road, even as the flood situation shows signs of improvement. The recent floods, caused by heavy rain and increased discharge from the Khadakwasla Dam, have led to widespread damage and disruption.
Although rain has subsided and the water release from the dam has been reduced from 31,000 cusecs to 13,000 cusecs, many areas are still without electricity. The delay in restoring power is due to the wet conditions of electrical panels and meter boards, which pose a risk of electric shock. Electricity supply officials have confirmed that the entire team is working diligently to address the issue, but power cannot be fully restored until these components are dry and safe to use.
Residents in Ekta Nagar are facing significant challenges without electricity, as power outages have also disrupted access to essential services. The Municipal Corporation has yet to deliver drinking water, exacerbating the situation for those affected. Although the floodwaters have receded and cleaning efforts are underway, the lack of power and water remains a critical concern for the community.
As the situation develops, authorities are prioritizing the restoration of power and essential services to ensure that affected residents can return to normalcy.
