A tragic accident claimed the life of a 24-year-old software engineer, Atharva Kumbhar, in Keshavnagar near the Renuka Mata temple around 12:30 am on Sunday. Atharva, who had recently moved from Moshi to a shared rental flat in Keshavnagar with his friend Aman Choudhary (23) for their IT jobs, collided with a water tanker while riding their brand-new high-end bike.

Aman Choudhar, who was riding pillion, sustained injuries in the accident and later filed a complaint with the police. Senior Inspector Mahesh Bolkotagi of Mundhwa police reported that the two young men had gone out for a ride after dinner. As they emerged from a bylane onto the main road, they suddenly encountered the water tanker, leading to a head-on collision.

Aman was promptly taken to a hospital and was discharged later that day. Following the incident, the police arrested the 32-year-old tanker driver, a Mundhwa resident, under sections 106(1) and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by a rash or negligent act and for endangering human life or safety.
