A woman from Ulhasnagar faces legal charges after death warnings to Yogi Adityanath
A 24-year-old woman was detained in Mumbai for allegedly threatening UP CM Yogi Adityanath, prompting police alerts ahead of his campaign visit.
The Worli police have apprehended a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of having made a death threat against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as reported by officials on Sunday.
An alert has been issued in the city as Yogi is anticipated to arrive in the state for campaigning related to the Maharashtra elections.
A woman reportedly sent a message to the traffic police’s WhatsApp number on Saturday night, indicating that if Adityanath did not resign from his position as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh within ten days, he would face a fate akin to that of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique, who was killed on October 12.
The officer reported that the police successfully tracked the message to the woman by utilizing the location data from her mobile phone in Ulhasnagar, Thane. Subsequently, she was taken to the Worli police station for further questioning.
“During interrogation, it appeared that she was mentally unstable but we are checking her medical record. We have not reached any conclusion yet. She has not been arrested till now and the inquiry is still ongoing,” says the officials.
Fatima Khan, a BSc graduate in Information Technology, lived with her family in the Ulhasnagar region of the nearby Thane district in Maharashtra. According to officials, her father is involved in the timber industry.
The police are on high alert due to Adityanath’s anticipated visit to Maharashtra for campaigning ahead of the state assembly elections on November 20.
This threat message has emerged during a surge of death threats directed at police officers in Mumbai over the last few weeks. Many of these threats were aimed at Salman Khan, demanding a ransom with the warning that the actor would be killed if he did not comply.
