The Abhay Prabhavana Museum, the largest “Museum of Ideas” focused on Jain philosophy and Indian heritage, opened today in Pune, with notable dignitaries and scholars attending the inauguration. Created by Abhay Firodia, Chairman of the Amar Prerana Trust, the museum aims to enhance public understanding of Jain principles and their lasting influence on Indian values. The central guiding principle, “Panna Samikhaye Dhammam” (Truth-seeking and Self-reflection), encourages visitors to pursue a personal journey of truth.

Inaugural Address by Distinguished Guests

The event was graced by esteemed figures including Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, His Highness Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Justice Dalveer Bhandari from the International Court of Justice. Other notable guests included His Highness Maharaj Kumar Lakshyaraj Singh of Mewar, Padma Bhushan recipients D R Mehta and Anna Hazare, and Maneka Gandhi, Minister of State for Environment and Forests. Spiritual blessings were offered by Padma Shri Gurudevshri Rakeshji, Acharya Chandana Ji Maharaj, and His Holiness Siling Tongkhor Rinpoche, underscoring the museum’s spiritual foundation.

Situated along the picturesque Indrayani River and covering 3.5 lakh square feet, the museum is a 50-acre landmark devoted to Indian spirituality, blending traditional ideals with advanced technology. Its 30 galleries promote values like compassion, ethical living, and open-mindedness, using high-tech audio-visuals, virtual reality, and interactive displays to engage visitors. The space features 35 projectors, 675 speakers, 230 LED displays, and a state-of-the-art HVAC system, creating an immersive environment intended to enlighten and inspire reflection.

A Tribute to Ethical Principles and Heritage

Founder Abhay Firodia shared his vision of the museum as a tribute to the Shraman and Jain traditions, which promote core ethical values embodied in ten ideals:

– Asi: Tools and weapons

– Masi: Ink and communication

– Kasi: Agriculture and animal husbandry

– Vanijya: Trade and commerce

– Shilp: Professional skills

– Vidya: Knowledge (including math, cosmology, medical sciences)

– Ahimsa: Non-violence in thought, speech, and action

– Aparigrah: Non-possessiveness

– Anekantvad: Acceptance of multiple truths

– Kshama: Forgiveness

Each principle is showcased through innovative displays, encouraging visitors to engage in self-reflection and pursue truth with integrity.

Located near the ancient Pale Jain caves, the Abhay Prabhavana Museum is expected to draw over 2,000 visitors daily, establishing Pune as a significant cultural destination. This museum offers an expansive space for spiritual and ethical learning, connecting audiences worldwide to India’s ancient values and traditions.

The Amar Prerana Trust, led by Firodia, is dedicated to fostering education and healthcare. The museum stands as a lasting testament to India’s spiritual heritage, aspiring to inspire future generations to uphold these timeless values.
