PUNE: Actor R Madhavan, has been appointed as the chairman of the National Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). 

During his visit, he engaged in meaningful interactions with the students, faculty members, and staff of the institution. 

On the occasion of the Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating the country’s independence, he expressed his earnest desire to organize complimentary short courses for various segments of society, including tribals, across the nation.

R. Madhavan has had a prolific career as an actor, having worked extensively in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi films. His recent film ‘Rocketry’, which delves into the life of scientist Nambi Narayanan, earned him the prestigious National Award. In light of his remarkable achievements, he was appointed as the chairman of FTII.

As per the information provided, Madhavan conducted a comprehensive review of the institute, assessing its functioning, curriculum, and facilities during his two-day visit. Furthermore, Madhavan held key positions as the chairman of the Regulatory Council, Academic Council, and Standing Finance Committee.

As per the information received, Madhavan commended the institute for its commendable facilities and applauded the implementation of short courses. He emphasized the importance of nurturing the enthusiasm of aspiring filmmakers, as it serves as the driving force behind creativity and excellence.
