In a deeply troubling incident from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, a woman riding a scooter was harassed by six men on motorcycles, sparking outrage across social media. The video of the incident, which occurred at night, has gone viral, showing the men surrounding the woman as she rode in the middle of the road. Four men were on one bike, and two on another, closely tailing her. The miscreants attempted to touch and kick her, continuing to harass her for several kilometers.
Fortunately, the woman managed to find a traffic policeman who intervened and stopped the two motorcycles, ensuring her safety. The police acted swiftly, arresting two of the accused, Mohammad Yusuf and Mohammad Firoz, while the search for the remaining three is ongoing. Social media users, outraged by the incident, have demanded stricter action and questioned why no bystanders intervened during the harassment.
This incident is part of a larger pattern of increasing violence against women in Uttar Pradesh. Recently, several cases of sexual harassment and assault have been reported across the state. In one instance, a Dalit nurse was allegedly raped by a doctor in Moradabad. In Ayodhya, a 12-year-old girl was gang-raped by three men, including a Samajwadi Party leader, Moid Khan. The case gained attention when it was discovered that the victim became pregnant as a result of the assault.
Meanwhile, in another incident from Lucknow, a video surfaced showing a group of men harassing a couple on a bike while crossing a flooded road under the Taj Hotel bridge. The men splashed water and attempted to pull the bike back, leading both riders to fall. The police intervened promptly, dispersing the crowd and arresting the culprits involved in the harassment.
