An Air Asia flight traveling from Kochi to Bengaluru, with 168 passengers and six crew members on board, returned to Cochin International Airport just minutes after taking off late on Sunday night. The flight, which had departed at 11:15 pm, experienced a technical problem shortly after departure.

Airport authorities declared a full emergency as the flight circled back to Kochi due to a suspected hydraulic failure. However, it is reassuring to report that the aircraft made a safe landing, and no injuries or casualties were reported among the passengers and crew.

Following the successful landing, the emergency status was swiftly withdrawn, and passengers and crew disembarked without further incident. The airline is expected to conduct a thorough inspection and maintenance check on the aircraft to ensure the safety of future flights. Passengers will be accommodated on alternate flights to their destinations as needed.

Air travel safety remains a top priority, and the prompt response of the airline and airport personnel in handling this situation underscores the importance of stringent safety protocols in the aviation industry.

AIX Connect Spokesperson on the issue stated, “An AIX Connect flight departing from Kochi for Bengaluru, returned back after takeoff due to a minor technical issue. The actions of the crew were in line with the airline protocol of placing safety above all. We are, meanwhile, making alternate arrangements for the affected guests. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the travel plans.”
