Iconic Tiger Claws To Return To India in November from UK : Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar

The process of bringing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s tiger claws (Wagh Nakhe) from London to India in November 2023 has gained speed. Minister of Cultural Affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar, along with Secretary of the Cultural Affairs Department and Archeology Department Official will go to London on 1st October 2023.

As per information, an MoU to bring tiger claws back to India will be signed in London on October 3. After that, the tiger claws will come back to India in the month of November. Mungantiwar said that he has sought time to meet Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in London.

With the help of tiger claws, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had torn apart the intestines (Kothala) of Afzal Khan. The same tiger claws will now be brought to India and will be kept for public viewing. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar will also go to procure the tiger claws.

Mungantiwar also informed that a big ceremony will be organized as soon as the tiger claws arrive in Maharashtra. This year marks the 350th year of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation. Therefore, various activities are being implemented by the cultural department. In this, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s hona, mudra, publication of postage stamps, portal of one crore Shivaji Maharaj devotees and bringing back tiger claws and Jagdamba sword to India are involved.
