Flight Disruptions on May 13: IndiGo, Air India Cancel Operations at Six Airports Across India

Passengers flying today are advised to check their flight status, as Air India and IndiGo have cancelled all flight operations to and from six airports due to ongoing security concerns following Operation Sindoor and heightened tensions at the borders.

This announcement comes hours after the Airports Authority of India (AAI) reopened 32 airports across northern and western India that were previously shut until May 15.

Airports Where Flights Are Cancelled Today

According to official airline statements, the following airports will not have any Air India or IndiGo flights operating on Tuesday, May 13:

  • Jammu
  • Amritsar
  • Chandigarh
  • Leh
  • Srinagar
  • Rajkot

Additionally, Air India has extended its cancellations to include:

  • Jodhpur
  • Bhuj
  • Jamnagar

IndiGo’s Official Statement

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), IndiGo stated:

“In light of the latest developments and with your safety as our utmost priority, flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot are cancelled for 13th May 2025.”
The airline advised passengers to check flight status on its official website or app before heading to the airport and assured that its teams are monitoring the situation closely.

Air India’s Official Update

Air India also issued a statement:

“In view of the latest developments and keeping your safety in mind, flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot are cancelled for Tuesday, 13th May.”

32 Airports Resume Operations

Meanwhile, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed that 32 airports, which had been shut for civil aviation activities amid recent national security developments, have now reopened.

In a statement issued on Monday, AAI said:

“The 32 airports that were closed for civilian aircraft operations till 0529 hours of May 15 are now available for operations with immediate effect.”
