Major Venue Changes and Team Updates
While there were earlier reports suggesting that the remainder of the tournament could be confined to southern venues such as Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, the BCCI instead finalized a mix of locations across the country, excluding Chennai and Hyderabad.
- Punjab Kings (PBKS) will now play all their remaining matches in Jaipur, including the replay of their abandoned clash against Delhi Capitals on May 24.
- Delhi will host the final home matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)—both out of playoff contention—on May 20 (CSK vs RR) and May 25 (SRH vs KKR), respectively.
- Mumbai Indians (MI), still in the playoff race, will play their final home game at Wankhede Stadium on May 21 against Delhi Capitals.
- RCB’s last league match has been shifted to Lucknow.
Overseas Player Concerns and International Commitments
With the tournament’s temporary halt, several overseas players have already exited India, raising concerns about their availability for the remaining matches. Their return is uncertain, especially given looming international commitments. The World Test Championship (WTC) Final, featuring top Test stars from Australia and South Africa, begins just a week after the IPL final, on June 11.
BCCI Expresses Gratitude to Armed Forces
In its announcement, the BCCI thanked India’s armed forces for ensuring the safe resumption of the tournament after the security-related pause.
