The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has granted special permission for teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s parents to travel with him during the upcoming tours of Ireland and England, citing the need to help the youngster adjust to international cricket and life away from home.

In a rare move, the BCCI has decided to allow 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s parents to accompany him on India’s upcoming white-ball tour of Ireland and England. The decision comes after the teenage batter earned his maiden call-up to the senior Indian team following a remarkable IPL 2026 season.

According to reports, the cricket board believes the presence of family members will help the youngster adapt to the challenges of international cricket, foreign conditions and the senior team environment.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said the board took the decision because Suryavanshi is still a minor and has so far travelled and competed largely with players of his own age group.

“As he is a child, we have decided to allow his parents to accompany him to Ireland and England, so that they can be with him and help him settle in the new environment,” Saikia was quoted as saying.

The board has also reportedly assured that it will extend all possible support if the family chooses to travel with the young cricketer. Such a facility is generally not available to players on overseas tours, making the decision a notable exception.

Suryavanshi is currently in Sri Lanka with the India A team for a tri-nation series and is expected to join the senior squad after the assignment.

A Dream Year For The Teenager

The BCCI’s decision follows an extraordinary rise for the Rajasthan Royals batter. Suryavanshi was one of the standout performers of IPL 2026, finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 776 runs, including a century and five half-centuries.

His explosive batting earned him both the Most Valuable Player and Emerging Player awards, while helping Rajasthan Royals remain competitive throughout the season.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said the youngster had effectively forced his way into the national team through his performances.

“He’s obviously made a great start. To back it up in a competition that’s as competitive and high-pressure as the IPL, and the way he can change games, we’ve got high hopes of him. I think he just picked himself,” Agarkar said.

The teenager had also earlier made headlines by leading India to the Under-19 World Cup title, underlining his reputation as one of the country’s most promising cricket talents.

With a senior India debut now on the horizon, the BCCI’s special arrangement reflects both the player’s young age and the extraordinary expectations surrounding one of Indian cricket’s brightest emerging stars.
