Pune Ring Road Project 32% Complete; CM Fadnavis Directs Partial Opening of Western Stretch by End of Next Year
Pune: Work on the ambitious Pune Ring Road project, aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, has gained significant momentum, with nearly 32 percent of the construction completed so far. Developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), the project is expected to ease traffic pressure within the city while improving connectivity with major national highways, leading to smoother movement of vehicles across the region.
The project received a major boost after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed officials to open a portion of the western stretch by the end of next year. Following these instructions, construction activities have been accelerated across multiple sections of the project.
MSRDC is closely monitoring the progress and has intensified efforts to ensure the remaining work is completed within the stipulated timeline. The western section of the Ring Road is targeted for completion by 2027, while the eastern section is expected to be finished by 2028. Once operational, the project is expected to provide major relief to commuters by reducing travel time and making transportation safer and more efficient.
Describing the Ring Road as one of Maharashtra’s most significant infrastructure projects, MSRDC Superintending Engineer Rahul Vasaikar said there would be no compromise on construction quality. He emphasized that high-quality standards are being maintained at every stage of the project.
Considering the rapidly increasing traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, authorities have further accelerated construction by deploying additional machinery and manpower across various project packages. Officials remain confident that the work will be completed within the planned schedule, bringing long-term traffic relief to the growing urban region.
