Pune : Travelling by air is consistently a favorable choice as it not only saves a significant amount of time but also ensures a comfortable journey. However, one of the primary challenges encountered during air travel is adhering to the baggage weight restrictions.

Each airline has a designated weight limit for passengers’ luggage, necessitating careful packing in accordance with the specified guidelines. In the unfortunate event of exceeding the weight limit, individuals are subjected to fines. The regulations surrounding baggage weight are becoming increasingly stringent, to the extent that even a mere 100 grams over the specified limit is not permissible at Bengaluru Airport.

Recently, Bengaluru Airport has introduced new automated baggage drop machines, as depicted in a picture shared by Indian Tech & Infra @IndianTechGuide on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter).

The caption specifies that no airline operating at Kempegowda Airport in Bengaluru permits any additional baggage weighing 100 grams. Recently, automated baggage drop machines have been installed at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. This new technology leaves no room for passengers to deviate from the weight restrictions set by the airlines.

The machines are highly precise and even a slight excess of 100 grams can cause inconvenience to passengers. A recent incident involved a woman who faced difficulties while boarding a flight from the Bengaluru airport.

In an interview with National Daily, the passenger, who identified herself as a graphic designer, shared her experience with the automated baggage drop machines. She was at Terminal 1 of the Bengaluru airport, waiting to board a flight to Delhi. Her bag weighed 15.1 kg at the machine, and she was informed by the airline staff that they could not accept her luggage as it exceeded the specified weight limit by 100 grams. The weight limit for each passenger is 15 kg. Despite her efforts to resolve the issue, the graphic designer was unable to find a solution. She removed some items from her bag to bring it down to 15 kg, while her friends’ luggage weighed less than 15 kg. She requested the airline staff to adjust her excess weight with her friends’ luggage, but her request was denied. The staff explained that the automated bag drop machines at the Bengaluru airport can only weigh bags within the limit of 15 kg and cannot make any adjustments.

In conclusion, the installation of automated baggage drop machines at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has made it imperative for passengers to adhere strictly to the weight restrictions set by the airlines. Any deviation, even by a small margin, can cause inconvenience to passengers and result in their luggage being rejected.

The report highlights the fact that the newly installed machines at Kempegowda International Airport do not accept bags that exceed a certain size or are of irregular shapes. This measure has been implemented to ensure compliance with aircraft weight calculations, which is a crucial aspect of aviation safety. Failure to maintain the appropriate weight can lead to operational issues and jeopardize the safety of the flight. Therefore, passengers intending to travel from this airport are advised to bear these guidelines in mind.
