Alandi, July 9, 2026: A dramatic incident unfolded in Alandi after several roads were closed for traffic due to the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession heading towards Pune.
To ensure the safety of thousands of Warkaris participating in the annual pilgrimage, police had imposed traffic restrictions on key routes in and around Alandi. The road closures reportedly caused inconvenience to many commuters.
According to eyewitnesses, a woman at a busy junction in Alandi requested traffic police to allow her through so she could reach her workplace. When the request was denied, she allegedly became agitated and created a commotion.
In the ensuing altercation, the woman allegedly drove her car into police barricades erected for traffic control and then continued driving ahead. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media and sparked widespread discussion.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate during the palkhi procession, follow traffic regulations, and use the alternate routes announced by the administration to ensure smooth movement and public safety.
