Mysore Sandal Soap, celebrated for its distinctive scent and unique design, has been cherished for more than a hundred years. With Mahindra’s endorsement, the soap has regained the spotlight, transforming from a once-overlooked item to a remarkable resurgence in popularity.

The Mysore Sandal Soap received endorsement from MS Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian Cricket team, in 2006.

The soap is primarily found in the southern states. With this expansion, it aims to extend its reach to regions like Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Gujarat, Punjab, and other states to enhance its market presence.

Anand Mahindra, the chairperson of Mahindra Group, has expressed his admiration for the enduring popularity of Mysore Sandal Soap. In a post on X, he reminisced about his experiences with the soap and mentioned his intention to purchase it once more.

He has also shared a video on X that shows the soap’s manufacturing process.

“Overwhelmed by nostalgia upon seeing this clip.

Delighted to see that it survives—and thrives.

Going to start buying it again and inhaling the fragrance of tradition,” was the caption of the video.

Over the past four decades, the soap has maintained its distinctive oval shape, featuring red and green packaging, a recognizable logo, and the tagline “The only soap with 100% pure sandalwood oil.”

The highest sales of Mysore Sandal Soap are generated in the southern states, accounting for approximately 81 percent.

Several comments echoed his thoughts. “It is iconic, vintage, Mysore Maharaja sent his scientist to the UK to study soap technology and set up this factory, in the 60s it was a soap used by families, economical with good fragrance, definitely this factory has to be preserved and its products should be sold pan India&globally,” says one comment. “It’s one of the best products available in the market, no one matches it till date,” says another comment.

Every day, KSDL’s Mysore Sandal factory in Mysuru produces between 10 to 12 lakh Mysore Sandal soaps. This product from KSDL is among the top sellers, enjoying high demand from its dedicated customer base.
