Ananya Panday Calls Out 'Star Kid' Label, Says It’s Been Turned Into an Insult
Actor Ananya Panday expresses her belief that the term ‘star kid’ has been turned into an insult, stating, ‘I don’t think that’s fair.’
Ananya Panday is the daughter of actor Chunky Panday. She launched her career with the film Student of the Year 2, which was produced by Karan Johar. On Raj Shamani’s podcast, the actress expressed her discomfort with the label ‘star kid.’
“People have made it (star kid) a bad word. And I don’t think it’s a bad word. People have made you aware. When you’re watching something on screen, you’re like, ‘Arey, ye iski beti hai (Oh, she’s this star’s daughter).’ It doesn’t need to be like that. People should just go in and think about what they have to. And they do think what they have to,” says Ananya Pandey.
She mentioned Shah Rukh Khan as an example, someone she has closely observed throughout her life due to her childhood friendship with his daughter, Suhana Khan.
Pandey also shared heartfelt memories from her childhood reflecting on her experiences with Shah Rukh Khan. She described the superstar as the “true definition of an emotionally available man.” The Call Me Bae star highlighted the traits that set Shah Rukh apart, emphasizing his role as an exceptional father figure who is deeply respected by those around him.
Ananya is the child of actor Chunky Panday and Bhavana Pandey. Chunky rose to fame during the late 1980s and early 1990s. She entered the film industry in 2019 with Punit Malhotra’s college comedy, Student of the Year 2.
“ I think it’s just become very divided, like ye insider hai, ye outsider (this one’s an insider, that one an outsider). The industry has given us so much. The audience have given us all so much. There are people from a film family who are thriving, and there are people who are not from the film family thriving even more,” she adds.
