Actor Bobby Deol has shared surprising revelations about the climactic action scene in his latest film, “Animal,” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The crime epic concludes with Bobby’s character, Abrar, engaging in a shirtless brawl with Ranbir Kapoor’s Ranvijay on an airstrip. In an interview with The Quint, Bobby discussed the love-hate dynamic between the characters, shedding light on creative choices made by the director.

Bobby disclosed that a significant moment was removed from the theatrical cut but may be included in the longer Netflix release, expected to exceed the current 201-minute runtime. Describing director Vanga’s vision for Abrar, Bobby mentioned, “There are these two brothers who want to kill each other, but there’s a love they have for each other. I’m going to shoot the climax sequence with a song playing in the background, which is about love.”

Surprisingly, Bobby revealed that there was initially a kiss between the characters in the climactic scene. He shared, “He said, ‘You’re fighting, and you suddenly kiss him, and then you don’t give up, and he kills you.’ But he removed the kiss. I think it might come on the uncut Netflix version. After saying all this, he said, ‘You’re mute.'”

Addressing the undercurrent of love in the scene, including a shot of the characters lying on top of each other without clothes, Bobby explained, “Both their families love each other. We are family. There is love for each other’s brothers. But that moment was also Sandeep’s idea. It was more about me being powerful. Obviously, the hero always wins in the end. And the shot of me unzipping, it was his idea. He brings that alpha thing to every character.”

While “Animal” has become one of the year’s biggest hits, surpassing Rs 750 crore worldwide, it has faced criticism for its portrayal of women and the perceived glorification of toxic male behavior. In response, Bobby argued that the film is actually ‘creating awareness’ about the cruelty in the world.
