Bajaj’s CNG motorcycle spotted testing, launch expected soon!
A Bajaj CNG motorcycle has been spotted testing, with its launch anticipated in June this year. The design suggests a simple and minimal commuter offering, and the camouflaged bodywork indicates that the CNG tank may be located below the tank and seat. The motorcycle is expected to cater to cities with a heavy dependence on and availability of CNG, emphasizing affordability and usability.
While specific engine details are not known, the spy shots indicate conventional telescopic front forks, possibly a mono-shock, and braking hardware with a front disc and rear drum setup. The motorcycle appears to have 17-inch wheels fitted with road-biased tires, a single-piece seat for better utility, and additional features like a grab rail, bulb turn indicators, handguards, and engine crash guards.
This upcoming CNG motorcycle marks Bajaj’s entry into the CNG segment, and its engine displacement is estimated to be in the 110cc or 125cc range. Bajaj is targeting rural and semi-urban areas with this commuter. While the exact details about the engine’s capability to run solely on CNG or have the option of using petrol are unclear, CNG engines generally produce a lower peak output compared to petrol.
The official name of the motorcycle is yet to be confirmed, but Bajaj has trademarked three new names, and speculation suggests one of them might be used for this CNG-powered bike.
The company’s recent trademark applications for the names Glider, Marathon, Trekker, and Freedom, submitted between January 29 and February 9, suggest that the upcoming model could potentially bear one of these names.
The launch is expected around the festive season, contributing to Bajaj’s plans to introduce new bikes and scooters regularly throughout the year.
