Balewadi Residents Troubled By Constant Flowing of Drainage Water
Residents of Balewadi mainly near F Residences, are in distress as drainage water keeps flowing nearby society, giving rise to diseases, inconvenience etc.
Madhusudhan Bansal, Chairman, F Residences, Balewadi, said “The entire drainage water from Samarth Lane & other areas is flowing towards F Residences road. People of the concerned PMC department should have the lay out plans of the location of drainage chambers. We had meeting with PMC & Smart City officials. They are pointing out fingers at Smart City or road contractors who have cemented the roads. According to them, the chambers are covered due to cementing & road development. They are unable to locate the chambers exactly. Lot of roads are broken & digged up. All problems are interconnected.”
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sandeep Mandloi, Resident & Treasurer of F Residences, Balewadi, said “This drainage water issue troubles us in every rainy season. Huge amount of drainage water keeps flowing from the nearby areas. Due to this, severe stink spreads throughout the area. It gives rise to several diseases. People cannot walk or drive their vehicles properly from the area. Several complaints have been given to the PMC, Ex Corporator Amol Balwadkar but nothing has happened yet.”
Nitin Karmarkar, Resident of F Residences, Balewadi, said “The PMC had put a drainage line in the area. However, it is not working as such as it gets choked. The entire drainage water is flowing on the road. It is causing severe diseases, stink and much more. People are not able to walk from the area or drive vehicles. PMC & other relevant people haven’t done anything to resolve this.”
Girish Dapkekar, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Aundh-Baner Ward Office, PMC, said “The officials of PMC and Smart City people had a comprehensive meeting on Monday morning (2nd October). The main drainage chamber wasn’t getting identified as of yet. Hence, along with Smart City officials, PMC has identified the main drainage chamber & has started draining out waste water which will be done in some time.”
Amol Balwadkar, Former Corporator, Baner-Balewadi-Pashan, said “The PMC has started the work of drainage lines in Balewadi. We have another meeting on 3rd October (Tuesday) regarding this issue. A decision will be taken shortly whether a new line is needed or not.”
