Pune: On October 1 (Sunday), Pune District Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil informed that work is underway in which Pune residents can travel in PMPML buses and Pune Metro on a single ticket.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Satish Gate, PRO, PMPML said, “While inaugurating the PMPML cashless ticket system on October 1, Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil felt that a common ticket system must be there between PMPML & Metro. Any planning or decision has not been taken yet as such.”
Dr Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director, Public Relations And Administration, Pune Metro, said “Only a thought was shared by Chandrakant Patil about integrating PMPML & Metro ticketing systems. Nothing official will happen as of now. If it does, PMPML will have to integrate their ticketing system with Metro so that both can be functional from one card.”
As per further information, on Sunday, while inaugurating the cashless system where passengers can get tickets through online payments by scanning the ‘QR code’ in all buses of ‘PMPML’, Chandrakant Patil stated that digital transactions are increasing in the country. Most of the digital transactions in the world take place in the country. Therefore, the question was frequently asked why this service was not operational in PMPML. Now this service has been started for PMPML passengers too. On the day of Ganesh Visarjan, Pune Metro saw the highest number of passengers. At the same time, PMPML passenger numbers also increased. A chain of Pune Metro and PMPML should be created. For that, PMP and Metro tickets should be the same. Work is in progress so that tickets can be purchased from a single card.
