BJP Unveils Vision for Pune: 1,000 E-Buses, Metro Expansion, Airport Upgrade, and Ambitious Development Plans
Pune, January 7, 2025: Pune residents have always supported development, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is committed to making the city more developed, cleaner, and modern, stated Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol. He also highlighted that the BJP is continuously working to implement the visionary “blueprint” for Pune presented by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Against the backdrop of the Pune Municipal Corporation elections, the BJP’s manifesto, titled “Manifesto for a Developed Pune,” was launched by Murlidhar Mohol and Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil. The launch was attended by Minister of State Madhuri Misal, MLAs Hemant Rasane and Bhimrao Tapkir, State General Secretary Rajesh Pandey, former Minister Dilip Kamble, former MLA Jagdish Mulik, Ravindra Salegaonkar, Vishwas Nanavare, and others.
Mohol stated that Pune is becoming a city suitable for inclusive living and is developing as a major city in the country. Under the Smart City scheme, Baner–Balewadi has been included and significant development has taken place there. Over the past five years, Pune residents have given the BJP the opportunity to work in the Municipal Corporation, and the party has made sincere efforts to fulfill its promises. The people of Pune have shown in the 2017 elections that they do not want old administrators.
Currently, Pune has 32 km of metro service, which is planned to be expanded to 150 km in the near future. Over the past three years, 15.5 million passengers have traveled via the metro. To strengthen public transport, approval has been granted for 1,000 e-buses, and in the coming period, 4,500 e-buses are expected to operate across the city. This will help reduce traffic congestion and provide safer travel.
Priority is being given to the expansion of Pune airport, and the 44 km riverfront improvement project is progressing rapidly. Mohol also noted that while preserving Pune’s cultural heritage as a cultural capital, modern infrastructure is being developed simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the BJP manifesto places citizens, women, senior citizens, taxpayers, healthcare, transportation, housing, cultural and economic development at the center of its agenda. Ambitious proposals include making Pune the “World Book Capital,” constructing a state-of-the-art convention center, establishing an AIIMS hospital, developing new metro routes, and creating data centers. Mohol expressed confidence that Pune residents will once again place their trust in the BJP.
