Bomb Threat Emails To Pimpri Chinchwad Hospitals Traced To VPN; Google Help SoughtÂ
A recent bomb threat email targeting three hospitals in Pimpri Chinchwad has created a stir in the city. The threats were sent to Dhanwantari Hospital in Nigdi, Medicover Hospital in Bhosari, and Morya Hospital in Chinchwad on Sunday, August 18, around 6:15 PM.
The email claimed that bombs had been placed under hospital beds and in bathrooms, threatening that everyone inside the buildings would be killed or severely injured. The email, which mentioned a terrorist group named “Ching and Cultist,” heightened the alarm. Authorities responded swiftly to the threats. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was dispatched to investigate the hospitals. After a thorough search, the BDDS concluded that the threat was a hoax.
The sender of the threatening emails used a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to obscure their identity and location. This has complicated the investigation for the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC). To help track down the individual responsible, the PCPC has sought assistance from Google LLC.
The situation caused significant distress and disruption at the hospitals, prompting immediate action from the police. However, no actual explosives were found, and the hospitals resumed normal operations after the all-clear from the BDDS.
The police continue their efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrator behind this alarming false alarm.
