Mohamed Alabbar, the founder and Managing Director of Emaar Properties—the company behind landmarks like Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall—has spoken highly of Indian professionals, praising their dedication, discipline, and strong work culture. Speaking at a recent business event in Abu Dhabi, Alabbar highlighted that Indian employees stand out globally because of their commitment to work and reliability, often being available regardless of time constraints.
He said, “I prefer hiring Indians because of their strong work ethic. They are so dedicated that if you call them at 1 AM, they will still answer.”
He further emphasized that success is not just about intelligence but about consistent effort and persistence. Reflecting on his own philosophy, he stated, “I always say my IQ is average, but my hard work is the best. I believe in hard work.”
Alabbar also stressed that companies should focus on “smart work” along with hard work. According to him, understanding opportunities deeply, taking calculated risks, and building the right team are key to long-term success. He added that organizations must be prepared in advance for crises rather than reacting after they occur, citing past global disruptions such as the 2008 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.
