A heart-stopping moment was captured on video as residents of a Chennai apartment complex in Avadi witnessed a terrifying sight: an eight-month-old infant sitting perilously close to the edge of a tin roof cover on the second floor.

The incident occurred on Sunday, sparking a flurry of panic and action among onlookers.

The harrowing three-minute clip depicts the dramatic rescue of the infant, who had fallen from the fourth floor and landed precariously on a sun-shade two floors below. In the video, captured from a resident’s balcony, the infant, identified as Harin Magi, can be seen positioned on her hands and knees near the roof’s edge.

With horrified residents shouting for assistance, three courageous men attempt to scale up from a first-floor window to reach the child. Below, a group of people hastily spread out a bedsheet, poised to catch the infant in case of a fall. A mattress is strategically placed underneath to cushion any impact and ensure the baby’s safety.

As tensions mount, the infant inches closer to the roof’s edge, her tiny legs dangling in the air. Amidst the chaos, a brave man climbs out of the first-floor window and steadies himself on the railing, reaching out to grab the child. Supported by two others, he stretches his arm, manages to seize the infant, and carefully passes her to safety inside the apartment.

The incident unfolded at VGN Stafford, a residential community in Avadi, when the baby fell while her mother, Ramya, was nursing her on the balcony.

Confirming the authenticity of the video, a representative stated, “She fell when the mother was nursing her. The video and the rescue are genuine. We have not received any formal complaint. The child is doing fine.”
