Pune: The Lohegaon Residents Welfare Association (LRWA) is organizing an event on October 15 (Sunday) to bring out the issue of absence of pedestrian crossings in Lohegaon & to make everyone aware about the same.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Varun Kumar, Founder Member of LRWA said, “We are doing this event to bring forth the issue of absence of pedestrian crossings in several areas of Lohegaon such as Bharat Mata Road, Porwal Road & so on. Due to this a lot of accidents take place. Hence, why aren’t pedestrian crossings there in Lohegaon areas? We have been putting this to the notice of the PMC for 3 odd years now. Hence, the entire program on Sunday is about this issue.”

As per further information shared by Varun Kumar “Every week, due to no pedestrian crossings issue, at least 2 to 3 accidents take place here. Heavy vehicles such as water tankers, cement vehicles etc ply on the roads. There are 2 to 3 well-known schools which are in the radius of 1 km. There are 3 to 4 famous hospitals as well. Many other things are also there. However, pedestrian crossings are not there due to which accidents on a frequent basis take place. More than 70,000 odd people live in the area. Hence, pedestrian crossings become important here.”

As per further information, the entire event will be of 1 hour in which activities like plays on raising awareness for the pedestrian crossings issue & many other activities will be conducted.

The event will be held on 15th October (Sunday) at 9 am near Apple Chemist, Porwal Road.

The LRWA has appealed to everyone to participate in the event in large numbers.
