The iMobile app of ICICI bank seems to be tangled in a major app glitch which has led to leakage of personal data of some of its users. Many users have voiced concerns about a bug with the iMobile app on social networking platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

What has happened due to the bug?

Personal details of several users such as all credit card information — number, expiration date and CVV — are visible. This has amplified the chances of credit card fraud occurring. Anyone can access and use credit card details to engage in overseas transactions and get away with it.

Those who are able to view others’ card information and account details are advised to raise a grievance and refrain from exploiting them.

Bank’s statement

An ICICI bank representative has expressed in a statement that their clients are their topmost priority and that they are fully committed to the preservation of their rights. They added that it has come to light that approximately 17,000 newly issued credit cards were accidentally linked to the incorrect users in their digital portals within the last few days. These make up roughly 0.1% of the bank’s portfolio of credit cards.

The bank is in the process of providing replacement cards to the clients and has blocked the ones whose information was leaked as an urgent measure. The bank apologised for the trouble caused and assured that no instance of a card being misused has been reported to them yet. However, if such a situation arises, the bank has promised to compensate clients for any financial loss they suffer.
