Deccan Gymkhana Police Arrest Man Trying to Sell Whale Vomit Near Goodluck Chowk

The Deccan police have caught a person behind Goodluck chowk who was trying to sell whale fish vomit.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Vipin Hasabnis, Police Inspector, Deccan Police Station, said “On 2nd September, a person was trying to sell whale fish vomit behind goodluck chowk.  He was waiting for his customer to arrive. After receiving a tip off, we reached the spot to interrogate the person, identified as Vishwanath Gaikwad. At that time, Gaikwad gave a dismissive answer but due to some factors, we were suspicious. So, Gaikwad was thoroughly interrogated and after looking at his bag, we found whale vomit. This vomit has been confiscated.”

As per further information from Hasabnis, the whale vomit found was worth Rs 5 Crores. As Gaikwad was caught selling whale vomit, he was taken into custody and the said vomit was confiscated.

Possession of whale vomit or any part of whale, which fetches thousands of crores in the market, is an offense under the Forest Act and is punishable. In the said case, if found guilty after filing a bailable case, there is a provision under this Act for a minimum of three years and a maximum of 7 years of hard labour.
