A recent survey highlights a growing health crisis in Delhi-NCR as air pollution worsens. The survey, conducted by Local Circles, reveals that 69% of families in the region are experiencing pollution-related illnesses, with symptoms ranging from burning eyes and congestion to breathing problems and anxiety.

During Diwali, pollution levels reached critical highs, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) spiking to the maximum level of 999 in several areas. This hazardous air quality has led 62% of respondents to report burning eyes, while 46% suffer from congestion or a runny nose. Breathing issues, headaches, and difficulty concentrating were also common complaints, with nearly one in four people feeling anxious or unable to focus due to the poor air quality.

Residents are adopting various strategies to cope with the pollution. While 15% of people plan to temporarily leave the city, others are opting to stay indoors, use air purifiers, or consume foods believed to strengthen immunity. About 15% plan to continue wearing masks outdoors, and another group will combine this with diet changes aimed at boosting health.

Despite these efforts, many in the community feel there are limited options to protect themselves, highlighting the urgent need for stronger measures to address air quality in the region.
