Devkund Waterfall, Tamhini Ghat, and Secret Point Closed for Tourists Until September 30 Amid Monsoon Safety Concerns
Raigad, June 19, 2025 – With the monsoon season in full swing and rising concerns over tourist safety, the Raigad District Administration has announced a complete ban on entry to popular tourist destinations — Devkund Waterfall, Secret Point, and Tamhini Ghat — from June 17 to September 30, 2025.
The decision aims to prevent incidents such as drownings, road mishaps, and environmental degradation, which have occurred in previous years due to the influx of tourists during the rainy season.
Strict Prohibitions Enforced Within a 1 km Radius:
According to the official order, the following activities are strictly prohibited:
- Consumption of alcohol
- Swimming near or under waterfalls
- Clicking risky selfies or shooting videos at dangerous spots
- Littering, especially with plastic waste
- Entry of private vehicles (except emergency services)
Authorities have stated that these measures fall under existing safety and environmental laws, and violators will face strict legal action.
Tourists are urged to cooperate and respect the restrictions, which are meant to protect both lives and nature during this hazardous season. The administration has also requested citizens to avoid visiting these areas until the monsoon ends.
This seasonal closure is part of broader efforts to promote responsible tourism and prevent avoidable tragedies during one of the riskiest times of the year in the region.
