Starting from the academic year 2025-26, the Central Admission Process (CAP) for diploma courses under the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) will include four rounds of admissions instead of the current three. This change applies to various diploma programs such as engineering, architecture, hotel management, catering technology, surface coating technology, and pharmacy.

The revised structure aims to reduce the number of vacant seats, increase student opportunities, and limit irregularities in the institutional management quota. Previously, unfilled seats after three rounds would often lead to admissions at the institution level, but students were then ineligible for state-funded scholarships. The additional round is expected to resolve this issue, allowing more students access to government scholarships.

According to the new guidelines issued by the state’s higher and technical education department, students must accept admission if they are allotted a college that ranks among their top three preferences in the second round or top six in the third round. Failing to confirm admission under these conditions will disqualify them from further rounds.

If students secure a seat in the first round that matches their top choice, they are required to confirm their admission without delay. These mandatory rules will apply uniformly throughout the process to ensure fairness and transparency.

Additionally, the admission procedure for seats under the institutional quota and any remaining vacancies will be conducted exclusively online. Colleges must publicly share lists of eligible candidates, merit rankings, and admission schedules on their official websites to maintain transparency.

The introduction of a fourth round was driven by long-standing demands from students and parents who wanted more flexibility and opportunities, especially to avoid the often arbitrary and expensive management quota route. With this change, the admission process is expected to become more student-friendly, structured, and equitable.
