Since Diwali is regarded as a lucky day for stock investments, the Indian market exchanges open a symbolic hour-long session for Mahurat trading each year.

Market analysts predict a high level of interest and participation because Diwali is regarded as the “ideal time to start anything new” and trading during this session is supposed to benefit investors year-round.

Trading at the “muhurat,” or auspicious hour, is said to bring wealth and financial success. As a result, the one-hour window is opened on Diwali every year even though regular trading is suspended.

During the 15-minute pre-opening and closing sessions on the same day, all trades executed during the Muhurat session are settled.

On October 24, the previous year, the BSE and NSE were open for business from 6.15 to 7.15 p.m. for Muhurat trading.

Probable Trading Options During Mahurat

All market segments will have open trading windows. Thus, you can invest in securities lending and borrowing (SLB), equity futures and options, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, and equity futures and options all at the same time.

Notably, during the Muhurat trading sessions in 2022 and 2021, the markets closed in the green. Both the Nifty and the Sensex increased by 0.49 percent in 2021 and 0.88 percent during the previous session.

In general, volatile market movements are anticipated during today’s session.
