Pune: Doctors in Pune are seeing an increase in cases of mumps lately, and they speculate that this is due to the ongoing weather conditions.

According to a doctor in Pune, the number of mumps cases has increased since late October. Although mumps cases are normally uncommon, there has been a reported increase of 30 to 40 cases in a single month. The absence of immunization in young children and the failure to place the child in quarantine for a week following diagnosis are the causes of the outbreak.

According to another medical professional, adults can also come in contact with mumps, but children are typically affected. Individuals contract the virus from one another. A few weeks before symptoms appear, the virus is exposed to the body. Pancreatitis, encephalitis, orchitis, hearing loss, and other complications are occasionally brought on by the self-limiting illness.

In addition to vaccinations, doctors said that maintaining a healthy diet can strengthen the immune system. Some blame the increase on factors like vaccine resistance, declining immunity, or low vaccination rates.

The treatment should focus on treatments such as applying warm or cold compresses to the swollen glands in addition to vaccination. To stop the spread of infection, practice good hygiene by often washing your hands and avoiding close contact with other people.

Sustaining a well-balanced diet and drinking plenty of water can strengthen the immune system. It’s important to rest.
