In a recent address, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, emphasized the pressing need for infrastructural development in Maharashtra. He underscored the necessity for changes in state governance, citing a lack of focus on pertinent issues due to the absence of significant changes in the fundamental principles of state governance.

Gadkari referred to historical shifts in governance, notably those initiated by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who catalyzed significant reforms within the Congress party. However, he criticized the party’s recent failures to address crucial matters, stating that those who fail to deliver on their promises deflect blame onto caste-based politics.

During his speech at a political rally in support of BJP candidate Murli Dhar Mohol for the Pune Lok Sabha constituency, Gadkari outlined key concerns such as traffic congestion and pollution in Pune. He highlighted the need for solutions to alleviate these issues, emphasizing that the emergence of New Pune in Navi Mumbai has intensified the demand for better infrastructure.

Gadkari also discussed ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Pune Metro and improvements to the Pune Airport. He assured that obstacles hindering these projects, such as environmental clearances, have been resolved. Additionally, he announced plans for the construction of a new expressway between Pune and Mumbai and the initiation of work on the Pune-Nashik and Pune-Bengaluru routes.

Moreover, Gadkari addressed broader national initiatives, including the government’s focus on job creation and export promotion. He emphasized the importance of indigenous production and highlighted efforts to boost ethanol production and improve river navigation for trade facilitation.

While acknowledging the challenges of poverty and social inequality, Gadkari reiterated his commitment to inclusive development, stressing the need for concrete actions over mere rhetoric. He called for accountability and action, asserting that words alone cannot address the nation’s complex issues.

In conclusion, Gadkari emphasized the pivotal role of infrastructure in driving economic growth and urged stakeholders to prioritize and expedite development projects for the betterment of Maharashtra and the nation as a whole.
