No matter how many roads or highways are built, the perpetual issue of traffic jams persists due to the rising population and vehicle numbers, stated Nitin Gadkari. Speaking at a campaign meeting in Wagholi yesterday, he emphasized that despite significant infrastructure investments, congestion remains a challenge.

He was in Pune yesterday, to address a rally organised for the Mahayuti Candidate Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil contesting for the Shirur Constituency.

Gadkari disclosed plans for tackling traffic congestion, including the construction of a double-decker flyover on the Pune-Chattrapati Sambhaji Nagar (previously Aurangabad) highway, allocated a budget of Rs. 40,000 crores. Additionally, a double-decker route from Nashik Phata to Chandoli, with an estimated expenditure of 10,000 crores, aims to address congestion on the Pune-Nashik route. Various multi-level solutions, such as six-level highways, flyovers, and metro lines, are underway to alleviate traffic congestion.

Furthermore, initiatives like a 54 km three-decker line and metro on the Talegaon Chakan Shikrapur route are in progress. Efforts are also directed towards resolving congestion on Pune city roads to Shirur. Gadkari stressed the importance of robust infrastructure for agricultural trade development, which, in turn, fosters overall growth and employment opportunities.
