Swine flu is spreading rapidly, raising concerns in Assam and beyond. During an interview, Dr Manjusha Agarwal, a Senior Consultant of Internal Medicine at Gleneagles Hospitals, shared some crucial prevention tips.

Prevention Tips:

  1. Get the Shot: Vaccination is your best defence. It’s especially important for kids, older adults, expectant mothers, and those with health issues.
  2. Keep Hands Clean: Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitiser is a good alternative if soap isn’t available.
  3. Cover Coughs and Sneezes: Use a tissue or cough into your elbow to prevent spreading germs.
  4. Stay Away from Sick People: If someone appears unwell, maintain distance. If you’re sick, stay home to prevent spreading the virus.
  5. Clean Surfaces Regularly: Wipe down frequently touched surfaces, especially if someone in your vicinity has been ill.
  6. Seek Medical Help Promptly: If you suspect swine flu, particularly if you’re at high risk, consult a doctor without delay. Early treatment can alleviate symptoms faster.

Following these simple steps can significantly reduce the risk of contracting swine flu. Stay vigilant and prioritize your health and well-being.
