A viral video capturing an altercation between a waiter and an elderly passenger on the Vande Bharat Express from Howrah to Ranchi has sparked widespread discussion on social media. The incident, which took place on July 26, began when a vegetarian passenger mistakenly consumed a non-vegetarian meal served to him by the waiter.
The elderly passenger, did not notice the non-vegetarian symbol on the packaged meal. He became enraged upon realizing the mistake and allegedly slapped the waiter twice. The situation quickly escalated, drawing the attention of other passengers who intervened.
In the video, the passengers can be heard confronting the elderly man, urging him to apologize to the waiter. Despite the assault, the waiter was seen tearfully apologizing for the mistake, further highlighting the tense atmosphere on the train.
Passengers expressed their support for the waiter, emphasizing that the mistake was unintentional. “Maafi mango” (ask for forgiveness) echoed throughout the coach as the passengers sided with the distressed waiter.
