Cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli had a heartfelt reunion on December 3 during a memorial event in Mumbai dedicated to their mentor, Ramakant Achrekar. The two childhood friends, who famously forged a world-record 664-run partnership during their school days, shared an emotional moment as Tendulkar greeted Kambli on stage. In a viral video, Kambli could be seen tightly clutching Tendulkar’s hand and appearing reluctant to let go, even as the event host repeatedly called Tendulkar forward. The memorial event honoring legendary cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar brought together former cricketers, including his illustrious pupils Sachin Tendulkar, Paras Mambhrey, Pravin Amre, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Samir Dighe, and Sanjay Bangar. Each of these players credited Achrekar’s mentorship for shaping their careers in cricket.
Tendulkar, famously known as the “Master Blaster,” rose to become one of cricket’s greatest players, setting numerous records and earning global acclaim. Vinod Kambli, Tendulkar’s childhood friend and fellow Achrekar protege, displayed immense talent early in his career, scoring consecutive double centuries in his first two Test matches. However, Kambli’s cricketing journey took a downturn due to inconsistent performances. He played only 17 Tests and 104 ODIs, ending his international career in 2000.
