Exploring Pimpri Chinchwad’s Heritage: PCMC Organizes Special Walk on August 15

PUNE: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with Elpro City Square, is set to host the Pimpri Chinchwad Heritage Walk, a unique initiative aimed at preserving the city’s rich culture and history. Shekhar Singh, Commissioner, and Administrator, announced in a press conference today that this event provides a special opportunity to acquaint residents and visitors with the city’s historical roots.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Heritage Walk promises to showcase historical and cultural landmarks, along with narratives that have left an indelible mark on the local community over time. Enthusiasts of history, culture, and the inquisitive alike will be able to delve into the past events that have shaped the identity of Pimpri Chinchwad. This heritage walk encompasses eight carefully selected sites across the city, each having made substantial contributions to its historical and cultural heritage.

Knowledgeable guides will provide participants with comprehensive insights into each location, offering a deeper understanding of their significance. Commissioner Shekhar Singh expressed, “We take great pleasure in launching the Pimpri Chinchwad Heritage Walk in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation and Elpro City Square Mall. This initiative seeks to bridge the citizens with the city’s cultural and historical heritage. The municipality eagerly anticipates that the residents and scholars embrace the abundant heritage woven into the city’s history.”

The press conference witnessed the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mininath Dandavate, Managing Director of Elpro International Company Deepak Kumar, Nishant Kansal of Elpro City Square, and Public Liaison Officer Prafulla Puranik. The inaugural ceremony of the Heritage Walk is scheduled for India’s Independence Day, August 15, at 7:15 a.m. at ELpro Mall, Chinchwad. The event will see local representatives, senior citizens, municipal officials, and students partake. The ceremony will commence with the recitation of the Panchprana oath, followed by the Heritage Walk, which will be held every third Sunday of the month, providing insights into the historical and cultural essence of various city locations.

Commissioner Singh shared that the itinerary will include sites such as Chapekar Wada, Mangalmurthy Wada, Morya Gosavi Temple, Prati Shirdi in Shirgaon, Sant Tukaram Maharaj Birthplace Temple in Dehu, Dehu Gatha Temple, Sri Gajanan Maharaj Temple in Alandi, and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Samadhi Temple, among others.
