False Alarm: Mumbai Police Inspector confirms Ratan Tata's dog Goa is alive and well, debunks viral rumor
A widely circulated WhatsApp message claims that Ratan Tata’s cherished pet dog, Goa, passed away just three days after the business magnate’s death. The message states:
“Sad news. Ratan Tata’s pet dog Goa passed away three days after his demise. This proves that dogs are more loyal than humans.”
The message highlights the touching story of how Ratan Tata came to adopt Goa. While visiting Goa, a stray dog approached him, prompting him to bring it back to Mumbai and name it Goa. From that moment on, Goa lived at Bombay House, the headquarters of the Tata Group.
This stray dog became a beloved companion to the late Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, often accompanying him to meetings. Goa was also present at Ratan Tata’s funeral.
Mumbai Police Senior Inspector Sudhir Kudalkar clarified that a popular WhatsApp message about Ratan Tata’s dog Goa passing away was false. On Instagram, Inspector Kudalkar verified with Tata’s close friend, Shantanu Naidu, that Goa is alive and well. He posted screenshots of their chat, highlighting the need to double-check facts before spreading details online to prevent the spread of false information.
