FIR Filed Against Pune Hotel Owner for Violating Election Code with Campaign Balloon
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Arun Pawar, a hotel owner in Hadapsar, Pune, for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by displaying a campaign balloon supporting Shiv Sena candidate Vijay Shivtare. The FIR was registered by the district election office’s vigilance squad after Pawar’s hotel was found displaying a large air balloon bearing the election symbol of Shivtare, a candidate in the Purandar assembly constituency.
The complaint was filed by Shekhar Amardeep Kamble, 38, a resident of Gadital, Hadapsar, and a government official in agriculture posted at Saswad. Kamble, who also serves as the chief of the flying squad for the Purandar assembly, was informed of the balloon display, leading him to inspect the location alongside police sub-inspector S.R. More from the Hadapsar police station.
Upon arrival, the authorities confirmed that the balloon was tied to the hotel and prominently displayed Shivtare’s election symbol. Prior to filing the FIR, election officials verified with the code of conduct cell to determine if any special permissions had been granted for the balloon display, which they found was unauthorized.
The FIR highlights the strict enforcement of the model code of conduct as election season intensifies.
