Heavy vehicles prohibited on Mumbai-Pune Expressway until April 9 due to intense heat

The Pune-Mumbai Expressway has been in news for the large number of accidents happening on it. In this regard, Shambala Desai, Minister for State appealed to motorists to follow rules while driving on the Expressway. 

He said the department concerned has been instructed to see whether motorists have speed control and are on the correct lanes. Heavy vehicles must be instructed to follow the rules.

Desai was responding to a query raised by Khadakwasla MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, as per rule Number 94. 

Desai said that road safety policy has been made by the government long ago and will be implemented by the departments concerned. 

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held a meeting in this regard on October 17 and has instructed the departments concerned to implement stricter rules. 
Desai said that more safety measures will be taken to curb accidents on the highway.
