Pune, December 13, 2024 – The Pune city witnessed four fire incidents on Friday afternoon, as reported by the fire brigade. Here are the details:
1. Kondhwa Budruk, Yewalewadi (1:31 PM)
A fire broke out in a sofa manufacturing factory. Fire engines from Kondhwa Budruk, Kondhwa Khurd, and one water tanker were dispatched to control the blaze. A small cylinder exploded at the site, and welding work was reportedly ongoing, according to locals. Firefighters contained the fire within an hour, preventing its spread. However, a man named Haroon Hamad Khan (45) sustained severe burns and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
2. Kondhwa, Mithanagar (2:32 PM)
An electric transformer in a building compound caught fire. A fire engine from Kondhwa Khurd arrived promptly, extinguishing the flames and averting further danger. No injuries were reported.
3. Shivajinagar, Near Sancheti Hospital (2:50 PM)
A locked house made of wood and tiles caught fire. Fire engines from Kasba and Naidu fire stations, along with a water tanker, extinguished the blaze. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and no injuries were reported.
4. Yerwada, Lakshminagar, Near Moze School (2:52 PM)
A fire erupted in a house on the first floor. Fire engines from Yerwada and Dhanori reached the scene, containing the fire before it could spread in the densely populated area. Although no injuries were reported, significant damage occurred as all household items were destroyed. The cause of the fire remains unclear.
The fire department’s timely response helped minimize damage and prevent further casualties.
