If you’re planning on driving on national highways in India, get ready for a little shocker. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is raising toll tax rates starting April 1. This means everyone from motorcycle riders to truck drivers will be paying more to use these roads. So, factor that into your travel plans and budgets.

The new toll tax rates for national highways in Lucknow will be finalized by midnight on March 31. After that, the rates will increase. This is a bit different than last year when the rates weren’t increased until June due to the Lok Sabha elections.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is raising toll taxes on national highways starting April 1. This means that drivers of all types of vehicles, from motorcycles to trucks, will have to pay more to use these roads. In Lucknow, the new toll rates for Sitapur Road will be implemented in October, as usual. The NHAI collects tolls on Kanpur Highway at Nawabganj, Ayodhya Highway at Ahmadpur, Raunahi, Bara, and Rae Bareli Road at Dakhina Shekhpur. So, expect to pay more when you travel on these routes.

An official mentioned that toll rates on national highways are revised every year. This time, the increase will be a regular adjustment. The updated toll rates will be put into effect soon. Reports indicate that the toll may rise by five to ten rupees. NHAI is set to implement the new rates starting at midnight on March 31, meaning travelers will have to pay more on these routes moving forward.
