The celebrated dancer, known for her charm and performances, wins hearts with her respect for historical icons at the Pune Book Festival.

Gautami Patil, a name that needs no introduction, has once again captured public attention, not for her dance but for a heartfelt gesture that resonated deeply with her audience. The Pune Book Festival, held on December 21 at Fergusson College, saw Gautami in a new avatar. Invited not to perform but to celebrate literature, she received a novel on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj from author Nitin Thorat.

Her humble act of removing her slippers before accepting and reading the book has gone viral, with social media users praising her gesture as a sign of respect for the revered historical figures. Speaking at the event, Gautami expressed her newfound appreciation for books.

“I am usually invited to dance events, but being part of this prestigious book festival is a different and inspiring experience,” she said. Gautami promised to make time for reading, adding, “This festival has given me a new direction. I’ve danced since childhood, but now I’ll surely take up reading books whenever I can.”

Her words and actions have not only elevated her public image but also inspired many to embrace the habit of reading, making her appearance at the festival a memorable one.
