Gold Jewellery Worth Rs 32 Lakh Stolen From Jeweller In Pune
In an unfortunate incident, a daring theft has shaken the jeweller community in Pune’s Raviwar Peth area. Thieves made off with gold jewellery worth Rs 32 lakh from a renowned goldsmith, Asit Poria’s, workshop.
According to the complaint filed by Poria, 42, the theft occurred when two workers, Amit Pal and Mukesh Pankhira, hired by Poria, allegedly stole the valuable jewellery. Pal and Pankhira have been employed at Poria’s workshop for a long period.
Poria, owner of Shrikrishna Sarafi Pedhi, had been entrusted with creating 33 Mangalsutras by a prominent jeweller family. The family provided Poria with gold, which he measured every night after work. The accused, Pal and Pankhira, were provided accommodation in the premises of the workshop.
On the night of the theft, they allegedly escaped with the gold kept in a cup. Upon discovering the theft, Poria inquired and learned that the duo had fled with the ornaments. Faraskhana police have registered a case against Pal and Pankhira and are investigating the incident.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the jeweller community, highlighting concerns about trust and security in the trade. Police are working to apprehend the accused and recover the stolen jewellery.
