Heavy Traffic Snarls Mumbai-Pune Expressway Near Lonavala

Pune, 24 January: Heavy traffic brought movement to a standstill on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Lonavala on Friday afternoon. Vehicles were lined up for over a kilometer along the stretch, causing delays for commuters. Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the congestion, though reports suggest an influx of weekend travelers contributed to the bottleneck.

Motorists are advised to plan their journey accordingly and expect delays while passing through this section of the expressway. Efforts are underway to regulate traffic and ease the flow. Travelers are encouraged to stay updated on road conditions through official advisories.

Pune’s Durga Puja at Aagomoni Prabasi Sangh: Celebrate at the City’s First Pet-Friendly Pandal Pune, September 24, 2025: Durga Puja is much more than a festival. This festival reflects the vibrant cultural fabric that unites people from different religions, regions, and languages. It is a carnival and an emotion that marks the time of happy tides. Families immerse themselves in this six-day gala of awesome food, pandal hopping, music and cultural evenings and welcoming Maa Durga back to her paternal home. Rajesh Burman, General Secretary, Aagomoni Prabasi Sangh said, "We are a Pune based is socio- cultural citadel committed to an array of activities spanning cultural, sports, literature and philanthropy is doing the 8th year of Durga Puja at Baner – Pashan Link road. This year to initiate the festivity we will do Khuti Pujo on 7th September which is a customary ritual of worshipping the bamboo pillars before the construction of pandal takes place. Khuti Pujo marks that the most favorite festival is not far away says Rajesh Burman General Secretary of Aagomoni Prabasi Sangha Pune. Rajesh Burman also added that this time to save the mother nature the Durga idol is made up of eco-friendly material. This year we are having the biggest and tallest idol of Dura ma, its 22 feet in width and 16 feet in height with elaborated shimmery Sonar saaj resembling the intricate designs and patterns." Raw materials have started arriving and construction work will soon commence in the area of 1 lakh square feet for this grand magnificent Durga Puja this year with a separate activity area, and a specific area for cultural programs including a designated space for bhog eating and distribution All the club members are meeting every day to discuss how to conduct this year’s Puja. The Adishakti Shri Shri Ma Durga is coming to our city to bless all of us. After the Khuti Pujo ritual, the big day is Mahalaya Amavasya followed by Ghatsthapana on 22nd September which begins the start of the festival. Aradhana of Ma Durga by forming this Socio – cultural organization we started in 2018 and this is our 8th year of celebration, he added. At Aagomoni this year, the six-day celebrations will include in-house cultural programmes, ‘kichuri bhog’ (prasad) and ‘Anondo Mela’, the fair of homely Bong food preparations made by the members of the committee. In continuation to their charity work we have organized several programs. 1. Bhog to all the members and their family (a mix of Khichadi, Begun Bhaja , Basanti pulao, Labra (a mix veg), chutney and payesh or sweets ) 2. Blood Donation Camp 3. Health checkup camp 4. Spot eye testing 5. More than 700 car parking available 6. Pet friendly Durga puja marks the cultural programmers and with the promise of some power pack performances and various food stalls serving the best food. These celebrations are not merely about rituals; they foster a sense of unity and togetherness. They bridge cultural gaps, strengthen family and community bonds, and provide a platform for preserving ancient traditions. Festivals also contribute significantly to the country’s economy by boosting tourism, local businesses, and artisanship. Durga Puja is open to all, they don’t believe in any special treatment or VIP Passes its open for all religious community who wants to come join us for this celebration along with their family and pets as this is Pune’s first Pet friendly pandal.
