He’s Walking 220 Km With 121 Litres of Gangajal, The Reason?

As lakhs of devotees embark on the annual Kanwar Yatra, a heartwarming story of faith and love has emerged from the crowd of pilgrims. Rahul Kumar, a resident of Narela, Delhi, is walking 220 kilometers to Haridwar, carrying a Kanwar filled with 121 liters of Gangajal. But it’s not just a religious offering, it’s a heartfelt promise for the future of someone he deeply cares for.
This marks Rahul’s fourth Kanwar Yatra. Last year, he carried 101 liters of Ganga water. This year, he increased the load to 121 liters, a move that symbolizes his growing devotion, not just to Lord Shiva but also to the dream he shares with his girlfriend. Rahul says he has taken this pledge to pray for her success in the UPSC exam, hoping to see her become an IPS officer one day.
Rahul has promised to continue this journey every year until his wish is fulfilled. “I will keep doing this Kanwar Yatra until she becomes an IPS officer,” he says, showcasing not just faith in God but also in her hard work and determination.
While the Kanwar Yatra is traditionally a spiritual pilgrimage undertaken by Shiva devotees during the month of Shravan, Rahul’s journey stands out because of the emotional purpose behind it. The yatra involves collecting water from the Ganga and walking hundreds of kilometers barefoot to offer it at local Shiva temples.
Despite having studied only till Class 12, Rahul remains deeply focused on his girlfriend’s academic path. She is currently preparing for the prestigious civil service exams. Rahul believes his prayers and the pain endured during the Kanwar Yatra will help turn her dream into reality.
Rahul is accompanied by his friend Nandlal, who is following him on a bike, offering support during the long and difficult walk. The sight of Rahul carrying the massive Kanwar has gone viral online, moving many who have come across his story.
As Rahul continues his journey with 121 liters of Gangajal on his shoulders, he also carries a powerful mix of devotion and love, hoping that one day, the girl he loves will proudly wear the IPS uniform.
